2/28 Friday 6:30 February Pack Meeting

Disability Awareness & Bookraiser

At this pack meeting we will be completing the Disability Awareness Belt Loop. All cubs should come to the meeting with a new story book donation. We will have 4 stations set up and the boys will be split by dens to rotate through them.

The stations will include;

  • Project Cameron's Story 5th Annual Bookraiser - A charity started by parents of a premature infant who spent a great deal of time in the NICU. We will be donating books to be given to the parents of every NICU baby to read to them while in the hospital. These books are distributed at Crouse Hospital, Albany Medical Center and St. Peter's Hospital. Each scout should come to this pack meeting with a new story book to donate. Any scout who has not received the Reading & Writing Beltloop can do this at this station also. You can watch this YouTube video for more information on this charity and how it helps families. Project Cameron's Story Video
  • Guiding Eyes for the Blind - 2 representatives and their dogs from this local Seeing Eye Dog program will teach the boys about the roles and responsibilities of these special dogs and trainers. You can learn more about this group here Guiding Eyes Website

  • Whole Me Inc. - A Syracuse based charity who provides education and services for the deaf. A representative will join the scouts and present and interactive American Sign Language demonstration. You can learn more about this group here Whole Me Inc. Website

  • Snack & Thank You cards - The 4th station will be creating group thank you cards for the local businesses that generously donated to our pack this year in supplies, prizes for the popcorn sale or the spaghetti dinner.
